Elise graduated from Northumbria University in 2009 with an upper second class honours degree in Physiotherapy.
Since qualifying, Elise has worked in a wide variety of clinical settings within the Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS trust including the Great North Children's Hospital and Newcastle's Major Trauma Centre. While working in the musculoskeletal department she ran fracture clinics alongside orthopaedic consultants, and set up her own gym based rehabilitation class.
Elise specialised in Hands, Burns and Plastics while in Newcastle, working with both adult and paediatric patients. She took particular interest in treating patients with complex regional pain syndrome, and contributed to the running of Newcastle’s’ Major Burns Unit. Elise continues to have a keen interest in upper limb pathology which has proven very useful for those cyclists with hand and shoulder injuries following a tumble!
Elise moved to private physiotherapy work in the Harrogate/Leeds area and has been running clinics in Harrogate, Leeds, Guiseley, Bradford and Garforth. As a keen runner herself, Elise has naturally developed an avid interest and skill in the treatment of sporting clients, both for injury prevention and optimising sporting performance. She participates in the running of sport specialist clinics alongside orthotists and podiatrists, looking at both running and cycling biomechanics and the influence on pain and performance.
Elise began to work with Physiologist Craig Stevenson, and became affiliated with Performance Sport Consultants Ltd in 2013. She joined Craig working at Prologue Performance Cycling in Harrogate which opened its doors in March 2014, as Prologue’s resident Physiotherapist and Sports Massage therapist.
Elise is qualified Pilates instructor following training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates institute. She has completed specific training courses on Pilates for runners and cyclists which she utilises for a wide range of clients and performance athletes. She has now joined forces with Gambaru Gym in Harrogate to provide Pilates classes for all ages, abilities and pathologies, in addition to running sports specific classes for runners, cyclists and triathletes.
